It's so freaking hard but be patient I wouldn't expect to be dilated at all at 38 weeks. You can strip membranes, use EPO orally or vaginally, get acupuncture, have lots of sex, walk, use a birth ball, do yoga, get a massage or hair or nails done..I was 3 cm dilated, 90% effaced at my 37w 1d appointment today .... a good progress from 1 cm dilated, 70% effaced last week. ... i went in on a Friday for my 38 week appt, i was 1 cm dialated and 40 effaced. started having cramps almost immediately after leaving the office but they stopped later on that night. With my first two babies I wasn't dilated at 36 weeks. I actually wasn't dilated at all when I was induced at 40 weeks with my first and with my second I wasn't dilated until 39 weeks and then was induced. This third time around I'm dilated to a 1 at 36 weeks..
