When you angle mill the head you will take just about all of the material off of the exhaust side where the chamber is wide and deep and nearly none at all off of the quench areas where it doesn't help to reduce the chamber volume anyway.It would have been easier to tell you that the L30 head has the exact same intake and exhaust port as the L31 head. The only difference in the casting is the chamber. Also the L30 casting is machined for a smaller intake valve.
